Start an Online Costume Jewelry Business

If you enjoy selling costume jewelry, but would rather skip the home parties or craft fairs, try out your business online. By creating a website, listing your items on auction or craft websites, and some email marketing, you can begin to make your online presence known. It will take some time, but with some patience and good business skills, your online jewelry business can grow.

1Have your jewelry products ready to sell. You will want photos of all of your creations. Use a digital camera to take pictures and upload them to your computer.

2Create a website presence for your business. If you are on a low budget, try a free website with free internet hosting. Register a domain name. Domain names at Godaddy.com start around $8-$10/year. OfficeLive.com offers free internet hosting if you have registered domain name.

3Give your Internet business a jump-start by listing some of your products on Ebay. Include a description about your new business in your listings, and a link to your website. Also list your handmade items on Etsy.com. It is a website similar to Ebay, but they have all handmade items.

4Write a press release or have someone write a release about your new business. Submit it to your local newspapers so that everybody knows that you are in business. Include a link to your website and email address in the press release.

5Join yahoo groups that have other members who have Internet jewelry members. Network with them to find out how they advertise their business. Include a link to your website in your signature line.

Step

6Email your new Internet business and website to all of your friends, family, and other business relations. Let them know you have created a website and are selling jewelry.

7Create a business card at Vistaprint.com. Include your business information, name, email address, and website link. Hand it out to everyone you know. Attend flea markets and other craft fairs and talk with other jewelry members. Exchange business cards with others who are in the jewelry business.
